Drawings
from the Children of Darfur
This series of drawings are the result of an impromptu gesture by
Dr. Jerry Ehrlich, a New Jersey pediatrician who worked with Doctors
Without Borders in Darfur. Dr. Ehrlich gave the children he worked
with paper and crayons and asked them to draw their life. These
drawings were collected and consequently, give us an unforgettable
glimpse into the lives of these children in western Sudan. Some
pictures depict flowers, sunshine and a tranquil village life, while
others graphically portray scenes of bloodshed, bombings, and horror,
with the directness and honesty as seen through a child's eyes.
These drawings have been exhibited in many North American cities
and are presently on loan courtesy of the Darfur Alert Coalition.
